During the month of October I’m spending 31 days writing about writing.

So it makes sense to spend Fridays doing just that – writing. Always just for five, unedited minutes.

Why yes, writers like a good flash mob of words. Wanna join?  –>Click to Tweet this!

How to Join:

Want to know how Five Minute Friday got started and how to participate? All the details are here.

Want to join us in PERSON next week as we get our Five Minute Friday on?

Yup, I. Am. SO. Crazy. Excited because a week from today we get to do Five Minute Friday in person at the Allume Blogging Conference! And if you won’t be there you can STILL join us  on Twitter with the hashtag #FMFParty {and if I feel brave and can figure out what it is} via a Google Hangout- everyone is welcome!

Turns out like 50 or so of you will all be there so we’re meeting up at 10pm for an in real life Five Minute Friday flash mob of writing awesomeness. All the details are over here – be sure and let us know if you’re in, yes?

 {Five Minute Friday friends: Jacque, Lindsey and me}

Now, set your timer, clear your head, for five minutes to just write without worrying if it’s just right or not.

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

Oh and Ahem, if you would take pity and turn off comment verification, it would make leaving some love on your post that much easier for folks!

OK, are you ready? Won’t you please give me your best five minutes on:::

Look…

Sometimes instead of people we see statistics. Or comments. Or Facebook likes. We see their traffic instead of their faces. We see their platform instead of their hearts. We see their followers instead of their voices.

Sometimes I peer through the dark screen of my Tweetdeck and I wish I could cup each of your faces in my hands and whisper,  I see you.

I see you.

I see those words you write at midnight and they are filled with more wonder than time it takes to read them.

Five minutes can split the world right open. Five minutes can build a bridge. Five minutes can open a door.

I can’t stop looking. Away from all this glory wrapped in pixels and hashtags and the love that you all keep spilling and spilling and spilling into each other fills me up all the way to my toes. I hold out both hands to try and see it better and still I’m looking at the reflection of Jesus.

How women can pave a way for the girl next door.

How women can invite over a neighbor.

How women can serve the hot biscuits and the sweet, cold iced tea.

Out here on the front porch of welcome, you all look mighty fine to me.
