We write for five minutes flat on Fridays.
We write bold and beautiful and free. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just write or not.
Won’t you join us?

2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. Go a little overboard encouraging the writer who linked up before you.
OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes on:
Growing…
GO
Up and over and deeper into my heart – you grow my baby girl. I ache with love for you. That giggle that jiggles out of your belly just for me. How you grab my face and zerbit my cheeks. I am growing into a girl’s mama more and more.
I am growing into a peace in the midst of you and your brothers that defies my small and crowded kitchen. I am growing into way-too-cosy nooks of this house and the carpet I can’t understand why the owners would have laid down under a kitchen table. I am growing into the slowly cleaning and not fretting that it doesn’t all get done at once.
Instead I’m growing into the “it’s OK if socks don’t always match, as long as everyone gets off to school with tempers in tact” mom.
It’s taken me quite some time.
But I am growing up.
I chalk marks on my insides – not on any wall. But deep inside where it matters most, I see the progress. Zoe I will be the mother who delights in you. Even at 2am. Wrap your small fingers tight around this heart because I love what you do to me.
How you raise me up in all new ways I hadn’t noticed I needed yet.

I love this today! I’ve made it a habit to write my 5 min Friday before I read yours so not to be influenced. I want to truly write what God has on my heart. Apparently our hearts are crossed….in the same place, as I hope many mothers are. xoxo
Lovely words.
Thank you.
Sheesh, how do you write like that in just 5 minutes? I love that last sentence–totally got me. You’re amazing.
Love to you, my dear!
Growing gave you inspiration – I really like the way you write about the way you grow, cause it’s this isn’t it, our children help us to grow a way we don’t imagine it could be possible to. Beautiful words.
“I chalk marks on my insides – not on any wall.” I love this image! Happy Friday to you!
Beautiful! These lessons have been some of the hardest for me to learn, to just enjoy my kids and not let the other distractions of a messy home and the flaws that I carry interrupt our moments.
Love that last sentence as well: How you raise me up in all new ways I hadn’t noticed I needed yet.
You set the writing bar high for us, and challenge us to reach deep. Thank you for that!
Have raised two girls now in their mid-twenties, I can heartily attest to all the ways I grew in places I never knew existed, let alone in which I was deficient!
To this day, they raise me up, ever my little girls, but as adult friends, caring for and about me and growing me in ways I never imagined with a love deeper than I ever thought possible.
What a delightful post on the depth of mother-love. … And this: “chalk marks on the inside.” Mmmmm … yes. Love that…
Two things: 1. carpet under the kitchen table: we had that!?!? Who would do that? 2. un-matching socks: it has taken me forever to get there, but it’s such a relief. I think I’m growing too!
I love how you love that sweet little girl!
Such a sweet post! I am learning to enjoy the moment and not sweat the imperfect house, etc … Bless you!
I love what you can do with words in just 5 short minutes. Beautiful – you, your girl and your writing!
Writing gold: “That giggle that jiggles out of your belly just for me.” Excellent, Lisa-Jo. Thank you!
what a great idea, I love this!! Wishing you a weekend filled with happy
My heart is melted. Makes me excited for the day I get to join the mother club one day :) Yet another great post!

Thanks for this topic! This is exactly what has been on my heart lately. I can’t seem to get the linky to work, so here’s the link back to my post: http://angiesaspiringart.blogspot.com/2011/09/5-minutes-of-growing.html
Stopping by from another blog hop and now a new follower of your blog thru RSS Reader and Facebook. I would love a follow back on both of those when you get a chance. Thanks so much for your help. I love the wallpaper! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
