I unplug my computer, sign out of tweet deck, and go email dark for a couple of days.
I spend more time in the community pool than the commuter lane.
I wrestle with my boys for long life-giving, endorphin-inducing bouts.
I eat cake that tastes of home.
I try to sneak away on a date night with Peter.
I nap.
OK, your turn. Subscribers, wanna click here and come on over to play along?
I play my violin as if I was famous for it.
I read my bible and pray.
I hide out with my chickens and hold one for awhile.
I swing at the park with my kiddos and pretend I’m their age again.
I walk barefoot in the lawn.
I nap.
Oooo swinging! Yes, me too. Plan to do some of that today!
I sleep.
I work in the garden and then cook the garden goodies
I go for a LONG-to-me run
I spend extra time alone in the morning, especially in My gratitude journal.
And I crawl back in bed and read silly books to My younger boys!
I like to swing at the park (Laura B reminded me of that!)
Run
Watch movies
I also go email, twitter, facebook dark when I need to clear the chaos around me
I read some poetry usually of Shakespearean or Chaucerian variety(total literary geek).
I cook recipes that I come up with because I can never find all the ingredients for recipes off Food Network(I live in the middle of NC/ no where).
I have a nice chat about legos, Tinkerbell with my son/daughter.
I play rotating chair for my Springer puppies.
Yes, there’s nothing like the deep chats with our kids about what matters to them. Spiderman is usually the primary topic of conversation in our house!
I knit or crochet, something simple & repetitive.
I tickle my children until I catch their infectious laughter.
I sit in the sun and listen to the nature around me.
I listen to podcasts from some of my favorite teachers & preachers.
I distract my mind with a sudoku puzzle or Scrabble game.
Yea, I love those tickle fights too – am always amazed at how even if I don’t feel like it, by the time I am knee deep in kids, I am laughing just as hard as them!
~I drop everything, tug on the hiking boots and we climb a mountain.
~I slip outside and breathe the night air, wondering at the stars.
~I turn up some Jack Johnson tunes and dance in the kitchen.
~I write faulty, flawed, clumsy poetry… unrefined… poured out.
~I bake something that makes home smell like love and turns fingers sticky.
~I work in the dirt and sink into a bubble bath scented with the warmth of vanilla.
(And I agree, Lisa-Jo, we are all for wrestling until we laugh so hard we can’t stand up!)
I write, I run, I read, and I let the laundry resume its mountainous form!
I go to the beach, because nothing beats the ocean air and the sound of crashing waves.
I lose myself in the details of baking something frivolous and beautiful – and then usually give it away.
I run until things become clear. Which is hopefully a quick process, since I then have to run home. :)
I get into a hot shower.
I hide from my computer. Or I hide it, from myself.
I listen to worship music…specifically the compilation “Heaven & Earth”
I sit down on the ground to play with my kids.
I read the Word, read the Word, read the Word! Specifically the Psalms!
I ride my bike, go to the beach or take a drive….
I take a bath! ;)
(And I unplug, too!)
I’m doing an online study this July about this very topic- REST! :) Come by and check it out when you have a chance!
I veg.
I take a bath.
I read a book.
Sit next to Shawn at his desk while he works.
I enjoy a glass of wine.
*I “forget” to go grocery shopping. Then I “need” to make a late-night run to the store, with a stop at Starbucks first.
*I get out of the house. It doesn’t matter where I go, but I get out.
*I take my kids to the park, sit on the bench, and watch them run.
*I bake.
*I sew.
*I sleep.
I look up—go cloud gazing.
I dive in—swimming deep beneath the surface.
I lap it up—burying myself in the embrace of my family.
I crank Dave Matthews as if it were front row concert and sing lyrics just as loud!
I take a super hot shower and stay there until the water turns cold.
I cannonball with 2 little hands in mine
I watch a chick flick and allow a few tears
I chase down bellies that beg for more tickles that leave me gasping hysterically
I eat chocolate until my stomach hurts
Did you know Dave Matthews was born in South Africa?!
I unplug from computer technology.
I sleep in (when I can!)
I do little projects around my house that I never have time to do, but make me feel so good when they’re done. (Not because I’m obligated. Because I WANT to.)
Spend quiet time with God.
Enjoy some beach time with my family.
Stretch out on the couch and watch some mindless TV (that’s how my mind unplugs sometimes.)
I order out. ;0)
Thanks for stopping by my blog this week! Yours is too cute! ;0)
1. I take a long hot bath with praise music in the background
2. I read and journal
3. I have girl time with a friend
4. I ride the 4-wheeler out to a quiet place in the woods to just “be”
I watch a favorite movie… you know the ones that you can quote by heart!
I bake… usually homemade brownies!
I unplug too… it’s amazing how turning off the computer can refocus me on the here and now!
I hold my boys, you know the pull them in close until you’re spooning kinda holdin’
I go for coffee with a friend.
I declutter the house.
I call my mom :)
I read. I write. I do some kind-of exercise. I date my husband. I blog. I do anything outside.
Maybe I should pick one of the above and go do that right about now. . . .
Have a great weekend. Fun to journey with you some via the blog world. :)
Laura
I go for a walk with my husband
I watch the sunset
I journal
I listen to Nichole Nordeman’s Every Season song
I call a friend and reconnect
I cry
I call my mom
I dream
Your list looks like mine. But I usually go on dates with John, not Peter. ;)
Love this.
