On January 28, 2009 it finally snowed in DC! Two whole inches. And everything shut down. SNOW DAY. In DC, Virginia and Maryland. For you Michiganders – this would be the equivalent of getting 12 inches. It’s like people here have never seen snow before – all schools were closed one day and opened late the next. Had us chuckling! Kids are kept indoors at school in the “winter”. But my boys have had the full Michigan winter treatment and couldn’t wait to get outdoors! Daddy led the charge:
Looks like a wonderful family day!
2 inches and the city shuts down?! That’s amazing!!! So different from the midwest!!
Glad you guys were able to enjoy it together!
Heya, just tagged you for a meme over on my blog.
Just checking the reply feature on my new blog.
Hey now! It’s not the SNOW, it’s the ICE. LOL. From a Marylander.
(I saw your comment on Stefanie’s blog. I help her at bit at the NHBY site.)
i was SO THRILLED that day… hey, last year we had ONE DAY we got snow, and i went to school in Ohio so i wanted more than that!
at school i always told my friends, “you’ll be happy to know that your federal government shuts down if we have more than 3 inches of snow.”
the washington post once featured a cover picture of a person cross-country skiing on capitol hill… in 2 inches of snow.
